Auberge de Cassagne

Presentation

On the outskirts of Avignon, a few minutes from the Palace of the Popes and from the famous Pont St. Bénezet, the Auberge de Cassagne, with its Provencal charm, is ideally situated for those who wish to find the true joy of Provence.

Set off to discover Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Les Baux, Gordes, go bargain-hunting at l’Isle sur la Sorgue, visit Le Pont du Gard, stroll round the village of Saint-Rémy de Provence and have many other little jaunts before finally returning to the Auberge de Cassagne.

Today, the outbuildings of the Château de Cassagne (1850) have been transformed and completed by new, low buildings that are in complete harmony with the bastide, at the heart of which nestles a green park.

A large, delightful family home, where the welcome is faultless and where, day after day, are practised the arts of friendship and the little things that make up the daily life of great houses.

35 bedrooms and 8 apartments have been created in the U-shaped buildings that harmoniously enclose three floral interior courtyards, with their comfortable terraces. A haven of green, formed from an abundant array of carefully chosen plants.

From the moment you enter the Auberge de Cassagne, having left your car in the private car-park, you are seized by the feeling of entering a true home.

Your first introduction is the beautiful reception area, with its yellow-ochre décor, its exposed beams and curtained panelled walls, and its armchairs with predominantly yellow check upholstery. Then you discover the delightful lounges.

Here, the family home ambience reigns. Wax-polished furniture, chests of drawers, tables, settees and chairs covered in Pierre Frey fabrics, old pictures in magnificent gold or wood frames, carpets, Provencal fireplaces with mantelpieces in wood. Nothing is forgotten here, not even the fire that blazes in autumn and winter to create a welcoming atmosphere. This symphony of wood, terra cotta and flowered fabrics produces a feeling of great comfort.

It goes without saying that the bedrooms and apartments are in harmony with these beautiful surroundings. There are 8 bedrooms and suites in the main building. The others are in the buildings surrounding the courtyards and many have independent access from the gardens. In most cases, there are wide terraces at garden level or at first-floor level.

For more than 20 years at the Auberge de Cassagne – an increasing rarity in the world of Chefs – Philippe BOUCHER has been an exponent of noble produce, as can be seen from his generous menu that proposes exclusively genuine produce. He has adopted this same maxim throughout his entire professional life.

His cuisine (1 Michelin star since 1985) is predominantly Provencal, based on regional flavours. He loves red mullet, scallops, crayfish, foie gras from the Landes, lamb from the Alpilles and kid from the Drôme.

André TRESTOUR directs the running of the restaurant and manages the highly exemplary wine list that he himself has compiled and which, accompanied by his information and advice, is sufficient reason in itself for coming to the table at the Auberge de Cassagne.

Come and discover the Spa de Cassagne (500m²), an unique place of well-being and relaxation that comprises an interior swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna, a hammam, a chromotherapeutic shower, a musculation room, a massage cabinet and a Hormeta beauty-treatment cabinet.
